Dianne Barrett, M.D.

Dr. Dianne Barrett was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica. As a child, her family immigrated to South Florida where she spent her early years. She graduated from Florida International University summa cum laude with honors in Biology. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. For medical school, she attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. Her internal medicine internship was completed at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston followed by ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas at Houston - McGovern Medical School. After which, she completed vitreoretinal disease and surgery fellowship at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. Dr. Barrett is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Over her educational and professional career, she has presented basic science and clinical research as well as published in peer reviewed journals. Her early research focus was on immunology and population genetics with a more recent concentration on vitreoretinal disorders.  She enjoys interior design, poetry and cooking international cuisine. She is excited to return to Texas and join the San Antonio Eye Center family.
