Spencer Hayes, M.D.
Dr. Spencer Hayes is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a native Texan who is excited to return to San Antonio to join the San Antonio Eye Center family. He graduated from Trinity University with a degree in Chemistry, and during his time there he was an active member of the Track and Field team.
He attended medical school at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School, and then went to Dallas to complete ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Early on in his educational career he had broad research interests and his work has been presented at a variety of conferences. More recently his research has been concentrated on surgical management of glaucoma.
He loves to spend time with his wife, daughter, and their dog. They are avid fans of walks in the park, frisbee, and ping pong.
