Carlos E. Pessoa, OD
Dr. Carlos E. Pessoa, O.D. is a therapeutic optometrist and licensed Texas glaucoma specialist dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care. Originally from northeastern Brazil, he served a two-year service mission in the southern region of the country before earning a scholarship to Weber State University, where he majored in microbiology and chemistry. He was accepted into Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry a year before completing his undergraduate studies, ultimately earning both a bachelor of vision sciences and a Doctor of Optometry degree.
Dr. Pessoa joined San Antonio Eye in May of 2025 and has led the development and implementation of innovative clinical protocols, including the use of cryopreserved amniotic membranes and medically necessary contact lens services, which have enhanced surgical outcomes and expanded care options for patients.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Pessoa enjoys raising his two sons alongside his wife, listening to audiobooks, swimming, dancing, following international soccer, and participating in local health fairs.
