Claudia Cala, MD

Dr. Claudia Cala, MD, was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, and attended medical school at the National University of Colombia, where she earned her degree as a medical doctor and surgeon. She later completed a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the same institution.

Following her training, Dr. Cala served as a general ophthalmologist for 15 years in her native Colombia, dedicating herself to improving eyecare for her community. She then moved to the United States, where she completed a three-year residency in family medicine at UT Health San Antonio.

Currently, Dr. Cala practices clinical ophthalmology with a special focus on ocular diseases and vision-related health concerns. She has a particular interest in managing systemic conditions that affect vision, such as diabetes, hypertension, and autoimmune diseases.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Cala enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys traveling, exercising, visiting family and friends, watching movies, and cooking.
