Jay Isteitiya, MD

Dr. Jay Isteitiya, M.D., is a distinguished ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and refractive surgery, with extensive international experience and a deep commitment to advancing eye care. He earned his medical degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan in 2005,  he completed specialized training in ophthalmology at Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital, Amman, Jordan, between 2008 and 2012, and furthered his expertise through fellowship programs in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine (2015–2016) and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (2016–2017). 

Currently, Dr. Isteitiya worked as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Department of Ophthalmology, where he also contributes to educating the next generation of eye care professionals.

Dr. Isteitiya’s expertise encompasses a wide range of advanced procedures, including endothelial keratoplasty, lamellar keratoplasty, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, PTK, Intacs), and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). 

Dr. Isteitiya holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Cornea Society. His continuous professional development includes advanced courses in lamellar and endothelial transplantation and phacoemulsification cataract surgery, further solidifying his reputation as a leader in ophthalmology.

In his spare time, he spends time with his wife and three daughters, He also enjoys playing soccer. He is a dedicated fan of FC Barcelona.
